Brother Walter Hammond was called as pastor of North Main Street Baptist Church on September 1, 2013, with his first official service being on October 6, 2013. He was licensed in the ministry on March 8, 2009 and ordained on May 8, 2011 by his home church, First Baptist Church in Milan, TN. He served as pastor at Fellowship Baptist Church from March 2011 to September 2013.

                Brother Walter served in the U.S. Army from 1988-1991 and in the TN National Guard from 1992-1997. He has a B.S. in Criminal Justice from the University of Tennessee at Martin. Prior to being called to the ministry, he worked at Goodyear Tire and Rubber in Union City, TN. After feeling God’s call to the ministry, he began seminary classes and has completed 35 hours toward his Master’s of Divinity at The Southern Baptist Theological Seminary.

                Brother Walter has a heart for building relationships and loving people where they are.  He believes that prayer and obedience to God are crucial to living lives full of joy and peace.  He believes that others must see Jesus in the way believers live, so that others will want to know Jesus Christ as their Savior and Lord.

Brother Walter has been married to Michele (Pinkston) Hammond for 21 years and has three children: Emily – age 25, Samuel – age 10, And Anna Jean – age 9.
